Manchester City Book Champions League Quarter-Final Spot

Comfortable Victory in Copenhagen

Goals from Akanji, Álvarez, and Haaland Seal Progress

Manchester City cruised into the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League with a 3-1 victory over FC Copenhagen at Parken Stadium, securing a 6-2 aggregate win.

Manuel Akanji, Julián Álvarez, and Erling Haaland found the net for the English champions, while Mohamed Elyounoussi pulled one back for the hosts.

Despite the comfortable margin of victory, Manchester City were made to work for their progression at times. Copenhagen started the match brightly and had chances to open the scoring before Akanji's header on 25 minutes.

Álvarez doubled the lead just seven minutes later, finishing off a fine move involving Haaland and Riyad Mahrez. However, Elyounoussi gave Copenhagen hope with a header on the half-hour mark.

Any hopes of a comeback were extinguished in the second half as Haaland added a third for Manchester City, tapping home from close range after a clever pass from Kevin De Bruyne.

The win sees Manchester City reach the Champions League quarter-finals for the sixth consecutive season. They will now be looking to go all the way and claim their first European Cup since 1970.
